DAY 26 OF THE THIRTY DAYS DEVOTIONAL WITH BRO IZUCHUKWU

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has shone.” (Isaiah 9:2)
“Notice the significance of the past tense used in Isaiah 9:2. It doesn’t say that people ‘will see’ a great light or that the light ‘will shine’ upon them. Instead, it says that they ‘have seen’ a great light and that the light ‘has shined’ upon them. This indicates that the event has already occurred, and the people have already experienced the light. It’s a declaration of a done deal, a testament to the fact that God’s deliverance and redemption have already been accomplished.”
Or, in an even more explanatory way:
“The use of the past tense in Isaiah 9:2 is remarkable. It’s not a promise of a future event, but a statement of fact. It’s saying that the people who were once in darkness have already seen a great light, and that light has already shone upon those who were living in the shadow of death. This means that the deliverance and redemption spoken of in this verse are not something to be hoped for in the future, but something that has already been experienced by those who have put their trust in God.”
Ephesians 5:8 – “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.”
Darkness represents everything that’s evil or puts men in bondage; it represents Satan and all his evil works.
But today, in Christ Jesus, all men have been delivered, transferred from the jurisdiction of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s Love-Son.
Colossians 1:13 (NASB) says, “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” If you are in Christ, darkness has no jurisdiction over you.
No wonder Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).
Now, you’re in His light, you have His light, and you have become a light in a dark and crooked world (Philippians 2:15).
1 Peter 2:9 says He “…called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” You are in His marvellous light; light so divine, so intense; the Bible says, “…and the darkness comprehended it not” (John 1:5). Hallelujah!
1 Timothy 6:16 says, God dwells in unapproachable light. This same God, according to 2 Corinthians 4:6, has shined in our hearts. What a Gospel! What a message!
This means no more poverty, no more sickness, disease and infirmities; no more death; because all these are associated with darkness. Maybe there’s been a lingering issue at work, in your family, marriage, health, or with your children. Or perhaps it’s a loved one that’s been suffering terribly; Jesus has taken away the pain. He has remedied the situation; the darkness is over.
Receive His Word to you now and act your faith. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
“Lord, I thank you for shining your light upon me, rescuing me from the darkness and bringing me into your kingdom of love.
I declare that I have seen your light, and it has changed me. I am no longer in bondage to darkness, but I am a child of your light.
I pray for those around me who are still in darkness, that they too may experience your deliverance.
Shine your light upon their paths, and break the chains that bind them.
I receive your Word, and I act on my faith, knowing that you have already overcome the darkness.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”

1 Peter 2:9 AMPC
[9] But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. [Exod. 19:5, 6.]
John 1:4-9 KJV
[4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
[9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Matthew 4:16 KJV
[16] The people which sat in darkness Saw great light; And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death Light is sprung up.
Acts 26:16-18 KJV
[16] But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
[17] delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
[18] to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
